FA Cup final – Chelsea 1-0 Man Utd

The Kopites May 19th, 2007

DrogbaChelsea has won 2007 FA Cup in an easily forgotten match with Manchester United. A late goal from Didier Drogba has secured them the win without having to go for penalty shoot out. FA cup which Liverpool FC has won last season has saved Chelsea, a GBP500 millions squad from only having only a mickey mouse cup to be proud with. At least the special one is still able to brag about his special squad.

To be honest, I would like to see Chealsea win tonight after what Sir Alex commented on Liverpool FC chances to win UEFA Champion League. He said that Liverpool FC has no chance to beat AC Milan because of what AC Milan has shown during the semi-final match when they defeated Manchester United. This comment is not supposed to come out from a professional manager like him but it is understandable considering the long history between Liverpool FC and Manchester United. I would love to see Liverpool FC beat AC Milan next week and make Sir Alex to eat his word. Also maybe make Sir Alex pour his own champagne instead of Carlo Ancelotti. We shall see on 23rd May in Athens.

The good news is I am able to watch the live match from my hotel room. Also there’s one UEFA Champion League pub at the lobby of the Nile Hilton. Maybe if I am bored watching in my room, I can join other Egytian Reds at the pub or maybe Milan? Heh! As long as I can watch the final, I don’t bother. YNWA!

Palop gets his hands on the Uefa Cup after an exciting encounter

Sevilla retained the Uefa Cup with a 3-1 shoot-out victory against Espanyol.

Adriano scored the first in a thrilling match with a lovely finish following a swift Sevilla break, but Alberto Riera levelled with a deflected shot.

Andres Palop denied Riera with a fine save and the game looked to turn when Espanyol’s Moises Hurtado was sent off for a second booking on 68 minutes.

Sevilla’s pressure told when Kanoute turned in a Jesus Navas cross, before a goal from Jonatas sent it to penalties.

But having done the hard work of taking the game to a shoot-out, Espanyol’s efforts from 12 yards were abject.

The news of Sevilla winning the cup did not really bother me as I am waiting for next week UEFA Champion League final. Even, I did not notice that the final of UEFA cup was held last night. Hopefully the Nile Hilton Hotel do has live telecast of the match. If not, then I have to hop somewhere to watch the final. Liverpool FC! YNWA!

English Premier League and Liverpool FC..

The Kopites May 14th, 2007

The last game of EPL was played last night and it marked the end of English Premier League 2006/2007 season. Manchester United is the new EPL champion deservedly beaten Chelsea FC. At the same time, the relegations trios are confirmed with Watford, Sheffield United and Charlton FC to go down. As for Liverpool FC, a 2-2 draw with Charlton is more than enough to secure EPL third place. Of course, 3rd place is not what the fans want. It’s the champion of EPL is what everybody are crave for but the prospect of being the winner of 2007 UEFA Champion League has compensated the frustration.

Liverpool FC made two new signings before the season end. It shows that Liverpool FC will not be fighting for players with inflated price during the summers. Maybe another one or two during the summer will not do any harm. Ukranian, Andriy Voronin was signed from Bayer Leverkusen and Brazilian, Lucas Leiva from Gremio. Both of them are good signings as Voronin is on a free transfer and Leiva is rumoured being bought for £5million. In Voronin, we have got a Ukranian World Cup star, while Lucas is presently captain of the Brazil U20 team playing the 2007 South American Youth Championship, and has previously been called up to the full Brazil squad. One young prospect player at £5million and one proven world cup player at no costs, in signing new players, Liverpool FC is not as stupid as the ‘Special One’.

How I wished I am one of Hicks clan..

The Kopites May 7th, 2007

Jimmy Rice 07 May 2007

Liverpool co-owner Tom Hicks will fly eight members of his family to Athens for the Champions League final.
Mr Hicks was blown away by the atmosphere during the semi-final against Chelsea and claims his family wouldn’t miss the final for the world. He said: “The whole Hicks clan, the eight of us, will be in Athens.”My 15-year-old son is in the middle of his school finals, so he will have to get some dispensation to be there.

“I hadn’t heard anything like the atmosphere when Liverpool played Barcelona. I didn’t think I would ever hear anything like it again.

“That was until the Chelsea game. This was a level above.”

And how I wish to have the same pocket as him, and buying my beloved Liverpool Football Club. I will!

It’s confirmed! Manchester United is the Champion.

The Kopites May 6th, 2007

The English Premier League has been wrapped up with Manchester United has been crowned as the new champion and Chelsea FC at number two. Congratulation to Manchester United as they deserved to be the champion. Haha..No more Chelsea FC..

This season has shown that Chelsea has been poor in getting players needed to maintain their status. They have been rocked by a list of injuries to player like John Terry, Ricardo Carvalho and their best goalie Petr Cech. But this is not an excuse for a team with GBP500 millions investment. Where is Lampard this season? People were talking and analyzing his skills last season and nothing has been heard about him this season. Their investment is nothing if the money is not spent wisely but lavishly to players who cannot contribute to the team. The deadliest striker of Italian league football, Andrei Shevchenko is only qualified to sit on the bench at Chelsea because he cannot fit into Moanrinho system. Moanrinho is a limited coach even with GBP500millions at his disposal. He still can pull out his trick for the last two seasons but starting from this seasons, I think he has losts it. Many other small teams do know how to nullify his team attacking threat and how to overcome his team tactical system. From my point of view, in order for Chelsea to progress, they have to sack that moaning coach. With a team full of talented players but choose to play a boring style of football, they are not worth to be a champion again.

Who will win the next edition of English Premier League? You know my answer..
