Penang II

Travel Info June 10th, 2007

A little bit more of Penang’s information.

If you’re driving, there are two options to get into Penang Island. Penang bridge is one of the option and another one is through ferry. Choose any of the options to enter Penang Island, toll has to be paid but no toll when going out from the island to the mainland. The toll charges varies from the types of vehicles.

Penang Bridge

Penang Bridge is completed and opened to traffic in 1985. The bridge connecting Prai in Mainland and Batu Uban in the island side. It is a 13.5km long with some beautiful surrounding scenery to enjoy while driving. Per entry to Penang, car is being charged at RM7.00.

Ferry Port

Ferry services is another option to choose with car being charge at Rm7.50 per entry. Ferry services is connecting between Butterworth in the mainland to Georgetown in the island. I would choose ferry over the bridge because I don’t have to drive while in ferry and I can enjoy the journey more. It’s also depending on your location and where you intend to go.
