Singapore and United Kingdom has agreed to an open skies agreement which will give free access to both national carriers to one another’s market. The open skies agreement means Singapore Airlines can pickup passengers from any UK airports and fly them to any destinations including USA. Similar privileges will be given to UK carriers in Singapore. This move will give much benefit to airlines from both countries because it allows airlines from both nations to operate like domestic carriers.
The agreement is the first to United Kingdom but not to Singapore who has signed similar agreement with United Arab Emirates.According to the officials, the agreement will come into effect starting from March 2008.
